  • SOLD - FIA Honda Civic Type-R Group N Rally Car

    Shell

    Safety Devices prepared the shell.  Fully seam welded with International T45 weld in roll cage.  Door X bars with second straight A pillar bar.  Second and third stage rollover protection with integrated belt bars.  The roll cage ties into the correct places and include front triangulation to the strut tops.  Alloy sump guard & Kevlar underfloor and sill protection.


    Engine & Gearbox

    Group N engine with the later 2006 ECU & lightweight wiring loom attached to a 5 speed 'Dogbox' with a KAAZ plated diff.  Gearbox and diff are only 2 events old!


    Handling

    3 way adjustable Proflex with large diameter inserts.  The dampers were rebuilt 1 event ago!

    Group N brakes & Group N Handbrake with long lever.  Twin AP cylinders with bias adjustment.  Aeroquip brake lines throughout.


    Interior

    Carbon fibre door cards and rear side panels.  Carbon Fibre driver & navigator foot trays.  Flocked dashboard.  MOMO Steering wheel.  Electric plumbed in extinguisher with hand held also.


    Spares Package

    Included in the sale is a reasonable spares package.  I have at least 16 spare wheels with a selection of tarmac and gravel tires.  Bonnet mounted lamp pod.  Spare brake calipers & spare airbox.


    First registered on the road in May 2003 and MSA Logbook issued only a few weeks later; this car was taken straight from the supplying dealer and modified for competition.


    This car has just undergone a re-prep ready for selected events in the remaining season.  I did a sprint a few weeks ago as a shakedown and won the class.  It's a very competitive car and has enjoyed many class wins.

    Shell

    This is a genuine car and chassis number 26 of 60 built for the single make Championship. Multi point weld in roll cage with front triangulation to strut tops and bracing to rear beam locations. Side windows and rear screen replaced with Perspex.


    The car has been mostly used to promote the previous owners’ business at shows for the past 7 years and therefore has an excellent paint job and not the usual battle scared vehicle.


    Engine & Gearbox

    I purchased the car late last year with a knackered engine and have fitted my 2017 championship winning 2.8L VR6 engine from my Golf. The engine is a very low hours unit having been supplied brand new by VW and used for only 3 seasons racing. Rolling road print out from Stealth Racing UK producing 240bhp.


    Gearbox is an original 6 speed close ratio Beetle Cup box with LSD. Again, the same set up taken from my Golf after a very successful year in 2017.


    Handling

    Suspension is original Beetle Cup Bilstein dampers on all 4 corners which I had completely overhauled by Bilstein during the 2017 season.


    Brakes are the original Alcon VW Motorsport callipers with floating discs on the front and new standard equipment on the rear.


    These cars were built to a high specification with bespoke hubs to allow additional camber, rose joints to replace outer ball joints etc.


    Interior

    Floor mounted pedal box with brake bias adjustment on the dash.

    B&M Quick shift with extended gear tower.


    Spares Package

    I have a total of 10 OZ Racing 18"x 9" rims, 11 slicks & 8 wet tyres.


    Also available, by separate negotiation, is a complete Beetle RSi body kit.
